Following the first teaser trailer for 2025's Superman, audiences are eager to learn more about the Krypto the Superdog's role in the film.At long last, the new DCU is hitting the big screen in 2025, with the first look at James Gunn's new Superman now available to view online.Superman's official synopsis teases "a singular blend of epic action, humor and heart," which also includes a crazy canine. The trailer highlights David Corenswet as both Clark Kent and Superman, The Daily Planet crew, Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor, and Krypto, helping save the day. DC StudiosCold and beaten, David Corenswet's Superman makes a less-than-ideal entrance in the first Superman trailer, crashing face-first into the icy snow.Gushing blood from his mouth, Superman is able to let out a whistle, trying to summon his furry friend. In fact, "Krypto" is the first word spoken by Supes in the trailer, as the reliable pup comes blazing in through the snow with his super speed. DC StudiosAs Krypto excitedly licks his face, Superman says "Home...take me home," and hands the small dog his cape. Near the end of the trailer, Krypto is shown loyally dragging Superman through the snow, presumably on his way to take him home. For some, this may come as no surprise, after it was previously reported that Krypto would be the "star" of the new Superman trailer. In October, James Gunn shared the first official image of Krypto on Threads, hanging out with Superman on the moon. The director further explained that Krypto is based on his real-life dog Ozu, who "was problematic to say the least" after he initially adopted him.But Gunn said that he remembered thinking, "Gosh, how difficult would life be if Ozu had superpowers?" And that idea is what put Krypto at the forefront of the Superman script:"Krypto arrives on screens in 'Superman' this summer. Krypto was inspired by our dog Ozu, who we adopted shortly after I started writing 'Superman.' Ozu, who came from a hoarding situation in a backyard with 60 other dogs & never knew human beings, was problematic to say the least. He immediately came in & destroyed our home, our shoes, our furniture - he even ate my laptop. It took a long time before he would even let us touch him. I remember thinking, 'Gosh, how difficult would life be if Ozu had superpowers?' - and thus Krypto came into the script & changed the shape of the story as Ozu was changing my life. What better time to debut the not-so-good-good-boy Krypto than 'Adopt A Shelter Dog' Month. Btw, Ozu today, is, fairly often, a very good boy."While Krypto is shown being a very good boy in the teaser for Superman, there's clearly going to be some chaos created by the canine in the full-length film. What Are Krypto's Superpowers? In DC Comics, Krypto shares the extraordinary powers of Kryptonians under Earth's yellow sun. Trailer won't shy away from leading with clean, clear footage of Superman flying around while clad in the new suit. 9 David Corenswet And Rachel Brosnahan's Chemistry As Clark Kent And Lois Lane Their romance will be critical to Superman's success As exciting as high-flying superhero action is, such surface-level thrills have never been the only thing that made Superman movies and TV shows work. Historically, the best live-action interpretations of Superman have nailed the chemistry between Clark Kent and Lois Lane, a foundational romance that helps anchor the all-powerful hero into a relatable being. Most recently, Henry Cavill and Amy McAdams left a lot to be desired in that department, with their own Clark Kent and Lois Lane never feeling like they had a believably strong bond. Ideally, the trailer will be able to assure future DCU audiences that the franchise's tentpole film won't be slacking in the romance department. Hopefully, David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan will be a stronger on-screen match for each other that will help to form the emotional core of the film. Ideally, the trailer will be able to assure future DCU audiences that the franchise's tentpole film won't be slacking in the romance department. Considering David Corenswet's experience as a romantic lead in films like Look Both Ways, expectations are high for his Clark Kent's heartthrob status. 8 How Krypto Looks In Action The scruffy superdog needs to sell himself a little more Another more controversial reveal about the upcoming Superman in official imagery was the soft-launch of Krypto the Superdog. In a promotional image, David Corenswet's Superman sits on the moon gazing back at the Earth next to the first live-action version of Krypto the Supergdog, Superman's pet dog with the same powers as him. However, whereas Krypto is traditionally drawn as a purebred white Labrador Retriever, James Gunn's Krypto is decidedly scruffier and smaller, modeled after the director's own dog, Ozu. To put it mildly, the movie incarnation of Krypto got something of a lukewarm reception, with many fans expressing disappointment that the first live-action version of the canine character didn't line. Krypto the Superdog is an American animated television series produced by Warner Bros. Animation, based on Superman's canine companion Krypto, which premiered on Cartoon Network on March 25, 2005 (exactly 50 years after his comic debut),[1] and aired on The CW's Saturday morning block Kids' WB from September 23, 2006, until September 15, 2007. 39 episodes were produced.[2]This article needs additional citations for verification. (January 2024)This article is about the animated series. For the character, see Krypto.A comic book series (based on the TV show) was published by DC Comics under the Johnny DC imprint, which lasted 6 issues, from 2006 to 2007.The show was developed by producers Alan Burnett and Paul Dini, who had produced the successful Batman: The Animated Series and Superman: The Animated Series.[3] Instead of continuing in that style, Krypto was produced in a manner reminiscent of the Hanna-Barbera shows of the 1960s to the 1980s, from the sound effects down to the animation style (veteran Hanna-Barbera designer Iwao Takamoto served as a creative consultant). As the planet Krypton is about to be destroyed, Superman's father Jor-El makes a spaceship and puts a puppy named Krypto into it for a test flight. Aboard the ship, Krypto was playing with his ball when he accidentally destroyed several wires, causing the ship to release a sleeping gas to put him into a deep sleep while it heads to Earth. When he arrived in Earth's solar system he woke up and found himself fully grown. The rocket's computer system gave him a collar and an ID with an intergalactic communicator.Upon landing on Earth, Krypto possesses superpowers similar to those of Superman, since all Kryptonian life-forms (including Superman himself) gain superpowers from exposure to a yellow sun. Later, he is adopted by Kevin Whitney, a 9-year-old boy, with whom Superman arranges

DC Comics Fans knew he was coming, as James Gunn has long hinted he wanted Krypto in the DCU, and the first trailer for Gunn's "Superman" gives a very big role to the Man of Steel's super-powered canine. When Superman (David Corenswet) finds himself in trouble in a snowy hinterland, it's Krypto he turns to in order to make it to safety. Bleeding from the mouth, he begs his best friend to take him home — and it looks like his faithful dog is well on his way to doing so by the time the trailer cuts away.As this exchange shows, Krypto is one special dog, and, no, he's not an earthbound canine by any means. As his name hints, comes from Superman's home planet of Krypton. That means he bears all of the skills and gifts that his master does, even though he looks like your average, lovable pooch. What does that mean for Clark Kent's new movie incarnation? Here's a list of all of the superpowers Krypto has been gifted with over the course of his many comic and animation appearances. Flight DC Comics The Superman trailer already suggested this, but comic fans know it's true: Krypto can definitely fly, just like Kal-El. Not only can the canine soar through the air like a furry bluebird, but he can also bear the weight of beings or objects much heavier than he is while he's in flight, which means he could probably fly and carry a massive boulder just like his master can. As the trailer hints, he can and has carried Superman out of trouble before, sometimes by the cape and the skin of his (literal) teeth. Talk about your loyal dog!Kypto shows off this ability in multiple comic book stories where he can often be seen careening through the skies at Superman's side, bearing all of the dexterity that his master does for midair balletic moves. Like all good boys, he's a great wingman — and good at winging his way into or out of trouble with the Man of Steel's help. Super Speed DC Comics Also just like Superman, Krypto has super speed. That means he can move far more swiftly than the pace of any Earthborn dog, making him a blur to the naked eye. Kal-El has the speed and strength to make the Earth reverse its course and the ability to almost literally be in two places at once thanks to how quickly he can move. Krypto can move just as fast — and, since he's a dog, might be even faster — than the Man of Steel.Of course, being a canine, Krypto has a tendency to barge right ahead, dragging even his equally

Strong human helpers behind him. Dogs will be dogs, after all, even if they come from an alien planet. But he can still more than maintain the pace his master sets and even be helpful in beating the bad guys, which makes him quite the super-ally. Super-Breath DC Comics Like Superman, Krypto is gifted with super-breath, which means his exhalations are strong enough to literally move mountains. In the comic books, this can be used for everything from cleaning off an oversized surface as quickly as possible to knocking a bad guy off of his feet or even pushing an object across entire oceans. Also like his owner, Krypto's breath can also be super-chilled to the point of turning various objects or whoever they're fighting into a big cube of ice. His super-breath can be used to create bridges, put out fires, cool down a superheated object, or even ice over lakes or oceans to facilitate something Superman's doing. It's quite the power, and Krypto doesn't get to utilize it as often as his master does, but it's a skill he has in his arsenal. Perhaps in "Superman" he'll get to freeze Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) in place. Super Strength DC Comics As hinted at above, Krypto has strength beyond that of your average pupper. He can lift, pull, bear, and tug a weight much heavier than most beings in the DC Universe. As a matter of fact, there are several comics where he picks up and carries several of his fellow DC Super-Pets. If Superman can pick up a whole house, Krypto can certainly carry a cow on his back without breaking a sweat; he's just as tough as his master that way. Taking him on a walk must be quite a daunting prospect, and stopping him from chasing down a cat would be a literal superhuman task. This skill, too, can be seen in a number of comics featuring the Dog of Steel, and he has often used it while being an able assistant to his human friends. In fact, there have been stories where Krypto proves to be even stronger than Superman. Time will tell if he gets to haul something heavy that isn't Superman-shaped in James Gunn's film, but if that happens, we're sure he'll be up to the task. Invulnerability DC Comics Can a Kryptonian dog survive a bullet to the chest, just like Superman? Well, yes — Krypto has a level of invulnerability that keeps him safe from heat, fire, and bullet impacts. If Superman can stop a train in its tracks, Krypto can do that too — even though he's less than half the size of his master. That invulnerability shows itself in multiple ways. Krypto. 22 likes. Other than being able to survive being hurt by other beings. It allows him to fly into space and survive without oxygen or the need to suit up against the pressures of being outside of the Earth's atmosphere. In the "DC League of Super-Pets" animated film, Krypto is, in fact, so physically strong that he becomes the purveyor of the solar paw punch. To use it, he has to harness the sun's power to make a single, fatal strike. But it does do damage to his invulnerability — he could die from it unless he's properly insulated against its impact. Even the toughest of beings have their own weaknesses in the DC Universe, which means that even Superman and his fellow Kryptonians — including Krypto — can be killed. Heat vision DC Comics Superman's heat vision can burn right through steel and melt it into a puddle, an ability that his dog has as well. Krypto's eyes even glow an eerie red when he does it, just like his master's. Heat vision often ends up being employed whenever Superman needs to get out of a tight jam — it's incredibly useful for melting down handcuffs that won't give, for instance. Krypto, too, has used his to break down chains and destroy different types of bonds across the DC Universe.Naturally, both man and beast have to be very careful with this power; if they're not, they'll end up injuring others. But in the end, Krypto can use his heat vision to tunnel through the thickest wall and rescue his human friends with all of the panache of his master. But he is still a dog, so even though he can pinpoint his heat vision ability like Superman, it doesn't mean he's not at risk of losing control of this power in extreme emotional straits. X-ray Vision DC Comics Krypto has the ability to see right through concrete, steel, and most other sorts of impediments thanks to his X-ray vision. Superman and Supergirl also have this ability and use it to spy on criminals and rescue innocent civilians. Krypto uses it to track his friends, as well as to find children and other vulnerable humans when they're in danger. They all share the same weakness to this ability, though — none of them can see through lead. All Kryptonians are powered by the radiation of yellow suns, like Earth's, and Krypto is no exception to that rule. His x-ray vision, in turn, can be bolstered by the light of the sun and made even stronger thanks to increased exposure to its energy. When powered enough, he can see right through skin into the bones of his human and animal friends, as well as

Unbeknownst to them, Krypto and his spacecraft merely entered an unexpected space-time gateway, and days later from his point of view—even though it’s been decades in real time—Krypto lands on Earth.Finding himself lost and alone on our alien world—and with strange new superpowers quickly coming in—Krypto begins traveling the strange planet he finds himself in the middle of, always on the trail of his lost friend: Kal-El, a being now better known as Superman.

What speed feats?7 years ago @theonewhoknows said: Even "in character", Krypto was doing things like heat vision frying poor defenseless cats, and super speed flying and biting the Superman level foe Mongul into submission."In character", and certainly when blood lusted, Krypto the Kryptonian dog heat visions, and/or rips Black Bolt apart faster than the Inhuman can even gasp, or register it happened. Then gets a stern talking to by Superman, and is forced to take a time out in the Fortress Of Solitude.Based on what speed feats?Krypto can keep up with Superboy and Kid Flash while they're moving at superspeed.7 years ago @willpayton said:@revan2424 said: @theonewhoknows said: Even "in character", Krypto was doing things like heat vision frying poor defenseless cats, and super speed flying and biting the Superman level foe Mongul into submission."In character", and certainly when blood lusted, Krypto the Kryptonian dog heat visions, and/or rips Black Bolt apart faster than the Inhuman can even gasp, or register it happened. Then gets a stern talking to by Superman, and is forced to take a time out in the Fortress Of Solitude.Based on what speed feats?Krypto can keep up with Superboy and Kid Flash while they're moving at superspeed.Revan2424, Willpayton gave an appropriate example before I saw these tags. To expand on that feat, I will add that Krypto beat Superboy and Kid Flash in an official race returning an item back to Superman literally instantly that kind of speed to the fact that the dog's bites are lethal enough to tear through durable beings such as Eradicator, Atlas, Mongul, and even Superboy Prime, the only conclusion that can be arrived at is-when Black Bolt faces the Dog From Krypton:Krypto wins.Good to see that the number of users who state Krypto wins-rightfully so-has drastically increased.7 years ago @theonewhoknows: Nice travel speed. Got any combat speed feats? Because Black Bolt is able to trade blows with people like Gladiator. I still don't see Krypto being anything but dog paste on the ground.7 years ago Krypto! BB is overated!7 years ago Krypto blitzes and bites his throat out in both rounds7 years ago @revan2424: Are you aware of what a White Martian is? Super strong, super durable counter parts to J'onn J'onzz (a.k.a. Martian Manhunter) capable of trading blows with the likes of Superman, J'onn, and Wonder Woman, and who have fast combat and travel speed of their own (even giving Wally West Flash a workout in that area)?Krypto is able to face multiple White Martians simultaneously combat, not travel speed) and hurt them with his heat vision (meaning, if it can sear them, it'll tear through Black Bolt like a laser through tissue paper).Yet another weapon in the tool box that Superman's pet has to take out the "talkative" one.Not to mention, the dog doesn't need combat speed, really---his range weapons can smite bolt before he can react, or the Kryptonian canine can "travel" to the Inhuman and bite his head off before he can even sigh. There's just no escaping it.
